On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June we took 11 gymnasts to Sheffield for the British Gymnastics Spring Series 2 event.
Saturday 1st June – FIG Development
Up first was Aidan and Jessica in the 9-10 categories, both performed two great routines significantly improving on their scores from Spring series 1. Jessica finished in 9th place and Aidan took the bronze medal, his first ever national medal.
Aimee and Libby followed next in the 11-12 girls category, after a great first event for the girls this competition was simply to just put three routines out there again. Both completed all of their routines well to finish in 4th (Aimee) and 7th (Libby) place.
The afternoon saw Liza compete in the 13-14 girls group and Kim and Amber compete in the 15-16 girls group. Unfortunately all three girls made an error in their routines so were unable to complete. However there were still positives to come out of the competition and lots to work on.
Sunday 2nd June – FIG Performance
Jemma and Will were up first, Jemma just missed out on British qualification at the first event and Will made an error in his second routine so both were looking for clean routines to try and qualify to British Championships in September. We can proudly say that both did amazingly well and qualified to join George in September.
George was up next with no pressure at all, he did what he needed to do at the first event. For George this weekend was about putting out his new routine, a 12.5 in difficulty the highest any gymnast has ever competed for the club.
Finally up last was Dan, after a tricky couple of weeks Dan performed incredibly well completing his routines and finishing in 5th place.
A massive well done to all the gymnasts who competed in Spring Series 1 and 2, we achieved 8 medals from 7 different gymnasts.
